Navigation categories are typically preset using established terminology. See the University Guidelines for information on naming navigation categories. If your unit has specific navigation needs that fall outside these guidelines, contact your unit’s Office for Communications and Marketing for assistance.

Adding a Content Page to a menu

  1. In the Edit tab of your content page, click on the "Menu settings" tab to expand more options.

  2. Click the "Provide a menu link" toggle on (green) to expand additional fields.

  3. The "Menu link title" field should prepopulate with the title of your page. If you would like your menu link title to be different than your page title you can edit this field. For example, if your page title is long, you can condense or abbreviate the menu link title. Just be sure that your menu titles make sense in relation to your page title.
  4. The Description field can be left blank.
  5. Expand the "Parent link" dropdown to place the page into a navigation category. For example, if you would like your page to appear under Academics, select that menu item as your parent link.

  6. The "Weight" field can be left alone.
  7. Save your Content Page to save the menu settings

Adding an internal or external page to a menu

    Open the Structure menu in your admin toolbar (the icon that looks like a stack of papers) and navigate to Menus > Main Navigation.

  2. Click the "+Add link" button in the top right corner.

  3. In the "Menu link title" field, add a title for your link.

  4. In the "Link" field, either paste in the URL for an external site or start typing in the name of your page to select a Content Page from your site.

  5. Expand the "Parent link" dropdown to place the page into a navigation category. For example, if you would like your page to appear under "Academics", select that menu item as your parent link.
  6. The ‘Enabled’ toggle should automatically be toggled on (green). If you would like to hide your menu link without deleting it from the menu completely, you can click to toggle off (gray).
  7. Click Save.

Reordering navigation menu items

  1. Open the Structure menu in your admin toolbar (the icon that looks like a stack of papers) and navigate to Menus > Main Navigation. This page contains a list of all the pages in your site’s navigation.

  2. To move a menu item, hover over the crosshair icon next to it until your cursor changes to crosshairs. Click and hold the mouse button to drag the menu item to your desired location, then release the button to drop it in place.

  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the Save button.
